I'm honoured and hugely proud to announce that I made it to the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition's 'Song of the Year' awards with my song Madiba. Yes that's right - I'm a 'Song of the Year' Semi-Finalist!
To place as a semi-finalist given the number of amazing songwriters from all over the globe who enter this contest each and every year is a pretty big deal to me. And ... considering the list of judges includes people like Dave Grohl, The Edge, Alicia Keys, and Steven Tyler, I'm absolutely stoked and incredibly grateful.
I knew Madiba was going to be something special from the very moment it was conceived but it took me a couple of years of perseverance to complete it.
Honouring the life of the late, great Nelson Mandela the song was written and produced by me (Mike Moss), mixed and engineered by Christophe Bride, and mastered by Pete Maher Mastering. Featuring the one and only Myke Wilson on drums, Madiba echoes the rich and sonorous voices of the Soweto Gospel Choir and the soulful rhythms of Massive Attack.
The track features on the EP - Start with Love, and Forgive the Rest - and is streaming now on all platforms including Apple Music, and Spotify.
