'Battle of the Bands'
06 May, 2012
It was a very full house for the 'Battle of the Bands' at Dry Bar, in Manchester, this evening and there was some stiff competition from a host of other amazing bands. At stake - a place on the main stage at this years Beached Festival, in Castlefield Arena (Manchester), courtesy of promoters Scruff of the Neck.
Eight bands in total got to show off their talents on stage to a very boisterous audience but despite the nerves, the willingness to impress made for a great atmosphere and a lot of fun. Each band was allotted a five song set by the panel of judges and the audience were also allowed to vote.
Mike Moss and his band were put on halfway up the bill and when it was their turn to shine they wasted no time at all as they catapulted themselves head first into the anthemic opening track It's Time from the debut album Cold World Plastic Dream. The band finished their incredible five song set with the pulsing rhythms of Emotion Machine, and with that they were done. All that was left to do was wait.
After another couple of hours all the bands had graced the stage and the judges disappeared into a back room to count the votes and deliberate. Another nail biting hour went by before they eventually emerged and the results were in.
"And the winner of the 'Battle of the Bands' competition for a place on the main stage at this years Beached Festival is......MIKE MOSS!" announced Mark Lippmann, from Scruff of the Neck, to some very loud cheers from the crowd.
Needless to say Mike Moss and the band were over the moon with the result and after a few celebratory beers they were off. See you all at Beached Festival, on June 2nd.
